Does anyone here actually support or advocate the notion of the government spending billions of dollars to attempt to establish some type of colony upon the moon, on mars, or in any place in outer space? Does anyone support NASA using funding to send probes and the like into the far reaches of the universe? Although I myself am a stargazer, and think it would be very neat to go out and visit distant worlds, I don't support either notion.

 Bush and his gang are using an age-old ploy with their Mars Mission announcement.....keep the people thinking about this, and maybe they won't notice how BADLY they are getting fucked!
Has nothing to do with space exploration, just alot of chest thumping from the country that can not stand to think that someone else may get there first! There are several other countries that have been launching rockets and such, which makes the U$ nervous....they have already talked about colonizing space and setting up their OWN presence first on the Moon and Mars....more Imperialistic nonsense.

Space exploration has basically stoped since the moon landing way back before i was born. Since then, the speed in which we are exploring space and advancing in it has pretty much lost all its momentum i believe. My peeve is with there being so little scientific shuttles going up into space while the planet's orbit is literally covered in way too many commerical sattelites.

The US doesn't like that China is going to the moon, they like there being only two flags on it.
So they're saber rattling.
Again.

That's capitalism for you. Science doesn't "pay" so it isn't supported.
