Hello everyone,
I have lurked on these forums occasionally when looking for good info for dumb internet arguments with libertarian bros. I figured it was time to create an account and start engaging in some conversations.
As for myself, I have always struggled with how to describe myself. I think I have finally settled on just the standard communist.
I became radical in high school but bought into the lie that it was "only good in theory." I discarded much of what I had learned (even if superficially) and stepped away from much politics and put my attention more towards secular/atheist activism. Finding somewhat of a home among the skeptic community, I put a lot of effort into learning about skepticism. I cared deeply about science advocacy (meaning I read a shit ton of Carl Sagan lol).
Slowly being a part of that community, I saw it for what it was: mainly liberal concern for religious freedom coupled with some really shitty libertarian ideas. I still value many of the activists who cared more about social justice than attacking dumbass religious figureheads to score rhetorical points.
I slowly started to re-engage with some of my more radical roots. I stopped caring about whatever the skeptics were outraged with and started reading and discussing politics again. After a year or two of searching, I feel like I now have a decent handle on what I believe. Finally getting around to read Capital, which was always a goal since high school, and reading a lot of literature from marxists.org.
Anyway, this pastor's kid - turned radical - turned liberal skeptic - turned radical is ready for some discussion and fun.
