I have never come accross an argument to attempts that life is sacred. People seem to simply accept their instinct for survival then argue for a totally unnatural approach to life. I disregard religions though as their morality is derived from God/Gods. Can anyone provide me with an argument or a soucre of this?

you should treat your life on earth as valued,
after all no one knows what happens after death!

The reason life is considered "sacred" is becuase it benifits everyone that it is such, allowing murder benifits no one becuase they could be murdered at any time and not many people have a desire to go round murdering everyone.

Exactly!

If a society didn't consider life "sacred" then, trust me, you wouldn't want to be a part of it.

As Camus said 'There is only one truly philosophical question and that is whether or not to commit suicide'.

But that question alone means there is a reason to live, to find out.

Just a meandering thought.

or maybe because your death would be just as superfluous as your existence or that death would be giving in to the absurd. So instead of life being worth living, its being lived reluctantly.
