What's poppin revleft?
Any of you cats listen to Southern Hip-Hop? I'm mostly into early three six mafia (+ associated groups), lil fly, tommy wright III, etc. Modern day artists that I listen to include include spaceghostpurrp, denzel curry, yung simmie, nell, rell, robb bank$, lil uly mane, + others. Not a big fan of Gucci Mane, Wacka Wacka Flame, and other pop party southern rappers. I'd post some videos, but I don't have 25 posts yet :o

Favorite tunes

Lil Ugly Mane - Lean Got Me Fucked Up
SpaceGhostPurrp - Black Money World
Three 6 Mafia - Mystic Stylez
Denzel Curry - Threatz
Denzel Curry - n64
Lil Fly - Anna Got Me Clickin
Three 6 Mafia - Walk Up To Your House
Denzel Curry & Nell - Shepherd
Yung Simmie - Florida Nigga Mentality (Remix Ft. SpaceGhostPurrp)

Listen to Da Mafia 6ix's new mixtape 6ix Commandments. It's all of the old members of Three 6 Mafia w/o Juicy J returning to their darker horrorcore sound, and is p. cool

Underground Vol. 1: 1991-1994 and Mystic Stylez are some of my all time favorites as far as hip hop is concerned.

I thought Lil Ugly Mane's Three Sided Tape Volume One was cool and n64 I skipped after a terrible first impression with one of the music video songs ( not threatz thou, that one's alrite ). I did like one of Curry's mixtapes from way back when so I'll probably give it a shot eventually.

Lil Yo's Youngsta's On A Come Up is also great. I'd link to a song but, you know...

I don't know of any political hip-hop from the south. Mostly gangsta, but I probably haven't been digging enough.

Yes, big fan. I loved the old Memphis sound and obsessively played old DJ Paul tapes and random obscurities found on old blogs before this whole revival came about, so when Lil Ugly Mane and all these guys started resurrecting the sound I was made up! Some of the best stuff has been mentioned already, so I'll list a few obscurities I've come across that just straight bang (not all Memphis but Southern/Southern-sounding)

Al Kapone - Sinista Funk (1994)
Graveyard Productions - The Havoc (1994)
Blackout - Dreamworld (1995)
3 Memphis Kniccas - Kill 'Em Dead (1996)
Lil Yo - Youngsta's on a Come Up (1996)
Lowdown Da Sinista - Comin for Your Soul (1996)
Womack the Omen - Book of the Dead (1996)
Hellborn - Hellborn (1999)
Evil Pimp - The Exorcist Greatest Hits Vol 1 (2004)
Dylan Ross - Dripped Out Jesus (2012)

Man... that's the worst song I've heard in a while... :scared:

Along the lines of Three 6, there's Koopsta Knicca who used to be in T6M. His only album is Da Devil's Playground, and it's really good horrorcore. Incredibly underrated.

I think, though, the Memphis scene gets a bit too much play. Since I lived in Texas, I liked a lot of stuff from Houston (pre-Swishahouse stuff, which I like, but obviously isn't underground for the most part.)

Gangsta rap is political.

Although Juicy's verse on Body Parts 3 was nuts.

You didn't like n64? why? That was in my top 3 albums last year
