Friends-
The low-wage worker uprisings continue and workers need your support!
Wednesday June 4th, Walmart workers from Milwaukee, WI and Chicago will be ON STRIKE And rallying at the 83rd and Chatham store on Chicago's Southside.
We will be right outside the Walmart with workers from that store and across the region, showing fellow workers and consumers that when we fight, we win!
Since Walmart workers began organizing with OUR Walmart in 2012, we have been winning real changes at Walmart across the supply chain:
- Thousands of workers across the country have joined OUR Walmart, Organization United for Respect at Walmart.
- Nationwide strikes of hundreds of workers on Black Friday in 2012 and 2013.
- Long-time CEO Mike Duke resigned, replaced by new CEO charged with achieving labor peace.
- Five Walmart board members have resigned due to public pressure around company practices.
- Walmart announces support for minimum wage increase.
- Under pressure, Walmart announces policy changes in scheduling.
- Under pressure, Walmart announces a new pregnancy accomodation policy.
- Walmart warehouse workers in Hammond, IN win raises and HEAT in the warehouse, organizing with Warehouse Workers for Justice
- The National Labor Relations Board prosecutes Walmart for illegal firings and retaliation against workers organizing with OUR Walmart
- Warehouse workers win $21 million in back pay in wage theft lawsuit
Join us Wednesday June 4th at Walmart at 83rd & Stewart at 2:30 PM to celebrate our victories and continue the fight!
