Hello.
I'm writing a research paper that needs to be related to the U.S, it has to be an event or something that i need to research and formulate a hypothesis and then PROVE that hypothesis through research.
But yet what should i research, what event??
this has to be 17-25 pages long
I was thinking of Cuba and why the U.S haven't invaded it yet.
but i have to choose an event
what do you guys recommend??

oh, there are tons of events
how about the Bay of Pigs attempt to invade Cuba, that might be good, still involves Cuba and you can easily segway into why the US hasn't invaded yet
um, what class is this that you have to write that much, and how long do you have?

That's funny, I have practically the same exact assignment for my American History course!
Well, I don't have to "PROVE" something, it's more of a research thing, but it's otherwise identical.

Oh, by the way, I'm doing mine on US intervention in Central/South America durring the 1980s.
But as MysticArcher said, there is a lot you could use.

How about: If Pearl Harbour didn't get bombed, maybe your nation wouldn't have dropped the Atomic bomb on Japan.

How narrow does the topic need to be? Could it be an event over a period of time? If so, you may find a heavy amount of information and writing source on US imperialism and its growth. Here is a slight introduction to how deep this topic could go..

This is just an idea, have done related essays before The US imperialism topics works very well. You can analyze all aspects; from reasons, outcomes, consequences, how it has affected cultures, growth of world, how economy was affected, etc. And you can very well add your own opinion.

The arms race, or the missle crisis would give you a lot of scope. You could easily have a different approach and prove it.

Well why the US hasn't invaded Cuba yet is pretty obvious, concerning what happened at the Bay of Pigs when the Cuban people rallied around Fidel to fight off the exiles, and plus they need a good reason to invade Cuba, and luckly they haven't got one yet.

Well, I got my topic approved by the History teacher. It all came down to the 1973 backed coup d'etat against Allende in 1973.
Any suggestions to a formal hypothesis about this event or any other suggestions on my topic? :redstar2000:

America's mercantilist/liberal/ect policies can be clearly displayed by examining the fall of Slavador Allende's democratic government in 1973.
