Dear Chris,

You are helping us achieve incredible victories! Early this morning, the U.S. House made an historic move by voting to prohibit the Drug Enforcement Administration from interfering with state medical marijuana laws. The bipartisan amendment passed with 219 ‘yes’ votes.

The House also approved amendments prohibiting the DEA from interfering with state hemp production laws and hemp research programs.

These historic votes are major victories. It’s the first time that Congress has ever approved any major marijuana law reform. And it’s all thanks to YOU. Your emails, calls and support got us to this unprecedented moment.

After years of hard work with our allies in Congress, there is now bipartisan consensus in favor of letting states set their own marijuana policies. And the votes are an embarrassment for the DEA, a federal agency that represents everything that’s wrong with the war on drugs.

An end to our country’s failed 40-year drug war is truly within sight. There’s a long road ahead, including getting these reforms through the Senate, but it is clear that the consensus in favor of punitive drug policies has collapsed and a new era of compassion, science, health and human rights is emerging.

You should be proud of how far we’ve come. But there is still more work to do. You can help us get these victories through the Senate so they can become law and achieve even more by making a donation today.

With you by our side, we are nearing an end to the war on drugs.

Thank you,

Bill Piper

Thanks -- 'ppreciate the concern.

Yeah, as EchoShock has noted, I'm quite public with my politics -- both online and in person. Thanks again, take care.

I consider this a good news. I remember when President Obama opposes this bill. President Obama has gotten a lot of stick for various things; one of which is the federal crackdown on recreational and medical use of marijuana (http://personalmoneynetwork.com/moneyblog/2012/11/08/marijuana-decriminalization/), despite him being a former user. The disparity doesn’t make logical sense on the face, but there are some good reasons why he would order such a crackdown.

Leaving aside the idiotic nature of demanding for legal reforms on pot of all things this isn't even legalized pot, its medicinal. And its not even legalization, its simply not prosecuting states that have legalized medicinal marijuana! How in the world can this be misconstrued as a victory?
And still, the mystery remains: why does ckhaistu think we care about his inbox?

Since you're virtually *obligating* me to respond, here it is:

I'll often post political-type emails that I get from various single-issue organizations, just for the sake of sharing the news.

Perhaps my intentions would be clearer if I prefaced each one with 'f.y.i.', since I usually don't initiate any actual discussion around the issue presented.

Consider this, then, the 'f.y.i.' as standing policy for stuff like this -- it's a valid point.

On the issue itself, I agree with your comments -- no argument.

If it's irrelevant and for the sake of news, why is it in the ongoing struggles board?

If it's irrelevant

It's not irrelevant.

and for the sake of news, why is it in the ongoing struggles board?

What would your preference be, then?
