So I just uploaded my first ever morning show for youtube (youtube just uploaded it:glare:) But when i uploaded it i got a message saying my video is blocked in some countries. Upon looking who it was blocked by the following came up

SME
IDOL
Koch Entertainment

Has anyone else heard of such bourgeois oppression. Its because i put in the USSR anthem, and now that i think about it, how does one copyright an anthem? Is the USA's anthem copyrighted?

The Star Spangled Banner is not copyrighted, but sound recordings of performances after 1972 may be protected by federal copyright laws and prior recordings may be protected under state laws.

You may commission your OWN performance of the song, record it, and then distribute it without royalties to anyone (other than the other performers, if any).

In capitalism corporations will search for the smallest details to attach copyrights to thinks so they can make profit out of it. Koch entertainment is part of the e one entertainment group (films/series distributor) and I think that in one of their movies the anthem may haven been used. Since the state collapsed a long time ago there was no one to posses the copyright of it and eventually koch entertainment was the first to do so. But note that it would be that specific version of the anthem. If you would record yourself singing the anthem, no one should be able to block the vid. This is just a guess btw, so I can be wrong.

Edit:

Koch entertainment distributes the cd The Definitive Collection where the anthem is featured.
