I remember that show from when I was a kid and the people responsible for that program are trying to make a digital version. Though it is not socialist in nature I think that some here would be interested in this project. The information is going to be given to schools for free as well as to the web in general for zero cost. To make this happen they are holding a crowd-funding campaign that seems to be going rather well. All that I'm saying is that some here might like to give a dollar if they want to.

EDIT: the app is not free for devices but it will be free for schools

No idea what the show is but I've heard a lot about it. So, what it's just like a show about reading then?

It was a show for children that aired on PBS. It was meant to encourage reading among young children and regularly read from and recommended various children's books, from the obscure to the classics. It was hosted by LeVar Burton, whoGeordie La Forge from Star Trek: TNG (he was also Kunta Kinte in Roots)
