Which left wing parties are most politically active in the world today? Especially in terms of elections and participation in politics (which as I realize many left parties don't necessarily engage in). And electoral victories. When in parliaments in capitalist countries, etc., do these parties work in coalitions with other non-left or non-socialist parties to achieve common aims and goals?
left/Socialist/Communist
That's pretty broad. The socialist party is rulling in France. The greek socialist party is in a coalition with a non-socialist party to achieve common aims and goals. These aims and goals are pretty much the opposite of those put forward in the communist manifesto.

The Communist Party of India has won some elections and is leading the state government in Tripura and have given the right to birth control, implemented agrarian reform and encouraged the education of girls.
The United Socialist Party of Venezuela has been in power since 1997 and has decreased poverty - in 1999, 23.4% of the population were recorded as being in extreme poverty, this fell to 8.5% in 2011 by nationalising oil and using the revenues to implement social reforms.

Communist party of China would be a logical answer. Not really that lefty or progressive tho. But fairly anti-american, and categorized as "Communist" whatever that means these days.
Also my secret wiki organization almost took over the world once, but had to regroup and go underground due to a mass invasion of Illuminati vampires. Other than that, i cant think of any.
That shit could've been great btw..

The Progressive Party of Working People, a self-described Communist party in Cyprus has held power very frequently.

The most successful are the western-style "socialists", but those are just outright liberals at this point.

Pretty much the "Communist" parties that act the least Communist are the most successful ones. Thats the state of the world we're living in.

The Fracción Trotskista, a genuine tendency of the revolutionary far left (English page at http://www.ft-ci.org/?lang=en & homepage at ft-ci.org), has gotten two Deputies elected in the national legislature of Argentina. While two is a small number, the FT truly promotes anti-capitalist politics. Having worked with the FT for some years, I think they are the real deal.

I'm not sure if the Sandinistas count, but them; they're an explicitly Marxist-Leninist party that attained 63 out of 92 seats in the Nicaraguan legislature in the most recent election [2011], and have presided over several successful literacy campaigns.

This may help on the parliamentary representation part- but it's not good for figuring out just how anti-capitalist these parties are.

The socialist party of France is more capitalist than Paul Ryan, and the communist party of China is a capitalist party. This world is full of evil people, of liars. Because lots of socialist parties of this world, when they rise to government power, never try to apply a workers government, a dictatorship of the working class, not even a state-capitalist economic model. The Socialist Party of France is not even a state-capitalist party. That party is neoliberal just like the former president of Spain, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero and his party (PSOE)
.
