Christopher Hill is/was almost certainly the foremost Marxist historian on the English Civil War period. The World Turned Upside Down is a thorough examination of the various radical sects and groups of the period, including a chapter on the True Levellers. It's not an introductory work but it is (surprisingly) available online:
