are you talking about the cuban revolution or the bay of pigs bolivia or the congo but i don't believe it was ever just 12 against a whole army. after the crew of the granma was ambushed i believe there were 17 to 20 people left if that is what you were talking about

Che's guerrilla groups were typically very small, at least compared to the enormous armies that they were fighting.

But as far as I know, he always had more than 12 men, except possibly during his final days in Bolivia.

well, if you'r elooking for info on famous fights, read up on the battle of santa clara. according to jon lee anderson's biography, che had 350 men against 3500.

10 to 1 odds. Damn, you need fucking balls to go to that fight. But guerilla warfare is the war of the outnumbered. You must pick your battles wisely.

No, that is correct, of the 82 soldiers on the Granma landing only 12 (including Che, Fidel, Raul) survived the initial battle. They literally where reduced to exactly 12 guerrillas against the dictatorship's army.

Of course they recruited more.

Survived, doesn't mean there was 12 attacking. I think that is what the initial post meant.
