I would like to know if there is anybody that knows a lot about the Sendero Luminoso/ The shining Path or MRTA from Perú. Im studying the subject and have some books and have read a little bit on the net, but I would like to know if there is somebody in here that knows more, perhaps first hand.
I had contact with a sobrina de Abimael Guzman and she lives in sweden, but I lost contact with her. Now Im looking for somebody that perhaps know where I could get some more information.
Please send me priv message or here if you have something, please.

Didn't the Peruvian authorities jail its leader Professor Guzman? Sendero Luminoso seem to be on the wane.

I know quite a bit about them, unfortunately not first hand. I hope you aren't a supporter of theirs. They are nothing but thugs using terrorism to gain power. Fuck them.
What do you want to know ?
Also, the MRTA is not affiliated with the Shining Path. They are a different guerilla group who have my full support.

i know somewhat, were in peru and leader captured and put in jail in 1992 i believe
this is why FUJIMORE president then of Peru became so popular. They follow the views of Mao more then that of lenin .

I have to say that Im not a supporter of Sendero Luminoso, and yes, I think that Abimael Guzmán Reynoso got captured 1992.
Im reading a book made by Comisión de la Verdad y Reconciliación, where they have tried to take up all the injustices done by the military, Sendero Luminoso and MRTA (Movimiento Revolucionario Túpac Amaru)..
It says that only some 1.5 % of the fatalities is made by MRTA (Movimiento Revolucionario Túpac Amaru) and that they arent that much like terrorists, more like revolutionaries and started an armed struggle against the government in 1984.
Im still reading it and Im looking around the net for more facts and articles..
They have estimated the deaths during the 1980s until 2000.. something like 69.280 persons killed and that the hardest hit area is Ayacucho..
I have heard that there are many senderistas from peru in many countries. People who have gotten permits to stay because the governments in the rest of the world didnt really know what Sendero Luminoso was about. I know that there are many in Sweden and there is quite a few in Norway, though I dont know anyone for sure, but I think that there is one that is Senderista, I will have to find out..
I hope that you share what you know:D Thanks

If you want some information from the pro side I suggest you check out the American based website. http://www.csrp.org/ It's sponsored by The Commitee to Support the Revolution in Peru.

Thanks Praxis for the link.. I have been into it and they really put down lot of work to counter the book I have from CVR.. sigh.... now I have to find even more.. lol.. :D But I think that the murder of Maria Elena Moyano was really ugly out of the things I´ve heard.. stuffing her with dynamite and blowing her up.. Anyway.. I continue my search for information.. Thanks again.

Shining Path has been but a skeleton of its former self since the capture of Guzman and several other leaders - they have no chance of ever gaining power or even a foothold in Peru.
