after living for years a few doors down to wim "the iceman" hof, famous for being (among other feats) able to withstand hours of hypothermia through training and meditation, i have always been very interested in his abilities. Especially since i normally dont buy into all this meditation stuff but seeing him running by everyday in deep snow only dressed in short shorts it was clear something was up that wasnt scientifically explained.
now dutch scientists claim that they have conclusively proven that with his techniques and training it is possible to consciously influence among other things your own auto-immune system;

rather cool and i'm curious to the scientific implications of this.

They mention that this was a study, but was it submitted to a journal or some sort of peer-review process to be scrutinized? I can't tell from the article.

Thank you, I am on a mobile device and the original link had some sort of mobile format to the article that was hard to navigate on my phone. Looking at that abstract they got there, it seems it would have implications on the management of autoimmune diseases, specifically excessive and painful inflammatory responses.

Can see how that works (not the consious control but how adrenaline dampens excessive inflammatory problems) the only positive I noticed to my panic dissorder is that my chronic pain in my finger joints seem to have almost dissapeared. I thought it was either unrelated or a side effect of my medication but this makes kind of senss too.

I have autoimmune disease, and it sucks. I doubt that they'll ever cure what I have, if they could've they would've by now, but interesting none the less I guess.
