i thought about this today, i may be missinformed if so could someone explain?

the bible says that human beings started from adam and eve right? they had kids etc...

but all of their children would have been brothers and sisters and for the human race to go any further, those brothers and sisters must have had sex which is abit sick.

and if you believe that, then ALL humans are related! personally i find the idea of being related to someone like G bush or saddam or the SovieT more disturbing than the idea of incest.

your thoughts please,

Well the bible actually has two creation scenes. One man and woman are created as equals from the primoridial soup, in the second Adam is created and then Eve from Adam's rib. If you think about it, when Adam's son marries the only other woman in the world at the time is Eve, and therefore he is sleeping with his mother. Delightful isn't it?

And to your question, yes biblically the first few generations commited gross incest. So did the generations directly after Noah.

Of course I don't believe this, and the question of whether or not all humans are related is more a scientific one, and I believe that yes, in some way, we are all related to eachother, yet it is so far removed it does not matter.

God put adam into a deep sleep, removed one of his ribs and created from it a women, called eve.
After leaving the garden of eden (snake and apple etc.) adam and eve had 2 sons. Cain the elder con ws a farmer, abel was a shepard. cain murdered his brother.

Later the world became full of people, but very wicked, God flooded the earth to kill them all, except for noah and his family, who were to start a new world of pure peolple

we all a related in some way or another anyway. I don't think eve was adams brother, just another person, to mate and live with!

people are people, we live, love, think, feel, dream, and die.

its things like that which make me amazed at how anyone can read the bible and think its true!

adams son having sex with own mother!! he would be both the father and brother/sister of the baby!!

i know all about how adam and eve were made etc..

but these were the only two people in the world. their kids MUST have had sex with each other to carry on the human race.

i dont think were related personally. if you dont belive in the adam and eve stuff its hard for me to come to the conclusion that we are all related.

Elaine Pagels wrote a book called "Adam, Eve, and the Serpent", it explains alot of the theories behind sex in judaisim and Christianity, but I haven't read it recently so I don't know if this topic is covered. I'd advise it to you though.

"My brothers and sisters" - Priests around the world are always saying this, so could we say that the church is not opposed to the idea? However the bible says no incest, yadda yadda...

Like I keep saying, ALOT of opposing ideologies are written in the bible. The bible is crap and so is religion, just imagine basing something like that on a dude that supposedly made miracles happen...but it wasnt written down until about 300 years after this guy did all this great stuff...

Like I say, "It's ALL bullshit". :D

Assuming that every christian believes in the story of Adam and Eve, Yes, incest would be neccessary to create humanity. But the bible clearly states that incest of any kind is Not Ok. Well that is hypocrisy, because if we are all related then all sex is incest. SO, IF ALL SEX IS INCEST, childbirth is a sin!
In ALL christian depictions of ADAM and EVE, they are caucasions. Blonde hair, blue eyes, pearly white skin usually. I have NEVER seen an asian eve, or an african adam, or a middle eastern couple.
SO this leads me to believe that EVERY CHILD OF GOD (those descended from adam and eve) is descended from a caucasian.
This is obviously not possible so....
THIS LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT CHRISTIANS THINK THAT.....
yes! You got it! They imply that asians, blacks, arabs, muslims, indians, jews, etc. are NOT CHILDREN OF GOD!
IF this is true than I AM NOT A CHILD OF GOD.
What does that make me? An Animal, a sub-human?
PERHAPS I AM THE WORK OF THE DEVIL??
I dont know.
It doesnt quite ad up does it?

but these were the only two people in the world. their kids MUST have had sex with each other to carry on the human race.

It's stranger than that:

Look at when Cain is kicked out, it says that he "finds" a wife.
WHERE???
Then he has a son and founds a city.
WITH THREE PEOPLE???

Clearly to make the bible make sense you have to accept that there are other peoples out there.
It just goes to show the monolatrous/henotheistic nature of original Judaism.

Actually that is exactly the argument of the KKK.

Well, it never strictly outlaws incest, rather is lists the relatives of whom it is a sin to "uncover the nakedness."

PERHAPS I AM THE WORK OF THE DEVIL??

probably.... :P

If you think about it it's not just incest it's like the weirdest masturbation possible... having sex with something cloned from you.

There was no Adam & Eve.
It's not as if we don't know that the bible is just a story based on some real stuff as far as I see it there was once a really cool magician called jesus who led a cult and all his followers exaggerated his basic boring tricks and fucked up civilisation there onwards. No fuck it it's just a story. A shitty long story at that.

and spout religious crap...

Sorry but the creation never happened, Darwin for one has ripped that to shreds, the earth is not 7000 years old or whatever its over 4 billion years old. man kind was not created in a few days but a few million years, and we evolved from single celled organisms. We are not here to rule the animals and we are not in gods shape.

Its all bullshit.

If you even accept that much, because there's actually no evidence that a "Jesus" ever existed as a magician or otherwise.

i was once wondering the same thing bout eve, adam and their kids and when i ask a non she told me adam and eve were sent from heaven to the earth (where we are today) and that the god made some other people who were here when they (adam and eve) came... it's quite unconvincing, but.... :P

On the topic of Jesus...

Did you know that all Kings of Israel and Kings of Judah had the title "Son of God"?

Did you know that all "christ" means is to be christened with oil on your head?

Did you know that Apostle means betrayer of the faith (or one who turns there back), yet Christians have been known in the past for intolerance off breakaway sects.

Ohhh the joys of religion.

hey enigma, I am not spouting religous shit, I don't beleive in the bible or religion for that matter!
Evoltuion is a fact! Adam and Eve is just a story to explain something that most likely could not have been explained 2 thousand years ago!

maybe Adam and Eve Where a couple of Bi-pedal, austrolapithiciens (primates) who lived in the garden of eden (located in south africa) Adam was black as night, but eve was white, like the rib she was made from..................bla bla bla, its just a story

do you really think that the isrealites would have have beleived they evolved from primates?

Most CHristian "scholars" for lack of a better term who i talk to say that Genisis was metaphorical. Which is fine by me because it's pretty damn clear that two people couldn't have started the human population if it was forbidden by god, at some point the incest would have pissed him off to a point where we'd all be dead...seeing as how God was so violent back then.

I don't think "Genesis" was ever meant to be taken seriously, as the actual story of creation, but of course this is from a modern perspective.

Also, I don't think the issue of Jesus' existance is in doubt. He existed, and had a large following. To deny that is to say something like "Xerxes wasn't really the King of Persia, he was a group of people." Now, him being divine is a COMPLETELY different story.

Freiheitfuralle,

Look at the picture I posted. Ethiopian Orthodox people portray the Religious figures of all being Amhars/Ge'ez peoples (Hamitic-Semetic people in Ethiopia), it's common for people to associate a religion with themselves, because it becomes a cultural identity over time.
