Hey!
So I've decided to register because I'm almost shitfaced. Been a lurker for a while.
I'm from Virginia, the leftist scene here is pretty weak. There's only a few left-wingers that I know of. Another Marxist and two anarchists. It's even worse in my hometown.
As for political ideals, I'm not sure. Some kind of Marxist, leaning towards Trotsky. Some of my positions are unclear at (especially) the present moment. For example, on electoral participation. I also enjoy reading Badiou, Althusser, Zizek and Gramsci, no idea why. Hebdige is pretty sick.
Becoming a leftist wasn't really a grand adventure for me. It was a long slog though social democracy and quasi-liberalism. Main reasons are Occupy (even though it wasn't that big in my area), the ongoing economic crises, and crappy jobs.
You might have guessed from my user name, but I love Judas Priest, heavy metal, and the class struggle. Alongside my fondness for alcohol of course.
