I have heard and i believe che's fight in bolivia would've been successful had the u.s. not intervened. Is this true. I have also heard his guerils were striking with ease against bolivians forces.

i think his chances would've been much better if the U$A hadn't interveined.

Having recently written a quite detailed paper about Che in Bolivia, I think I know enough to answer this.

Che's guerillas were not waging a successful war in Bolivia. The conditions were all wrong for a revolution. Peasants were gladly turning Che's guerillas in for rewards and favors, or even just because the guerrillas were "evil" (the words of the Bolivian government). American intervention in Bolivia made the situation even worse. Without the Americans, it's my belief that Che still would have failed, but he would have made some change, and probably escaped with his life.

The end of Anderson's book is a great account of Che's time in Bolivia. I think that'll tell you a lot.

our 'good friends', the CIA had sent bolivian soldiers to kill Che in Bolivia.

Che was totally disoriented too, hadn't bathed nor shaved in days, and really looked horrible. The soldiers held him for a time, then, before they executed him, he had told them that he knew why they were there and that even if they kill him, it wont prove anything b/c the revolution will still continue.

Sorta promoting the notion that rebellion has no single leader...and that's where rebellion has its strength...cuz you can always kill Guevara or Castro, or whoever...but you cant stop the masses that are aware of the impirealism going on...and you cant kill all of us and hide it. hah.

Smart one Che was...

He and his men were very sick, as well, when they were captured.

I think that he was also making a mistake with his rural guerrila warfare. There were lots of mine worker going on strike at the time; the mine workers were angered by the government. The people in rural areas had just been given lots of land, so there wasn't much that the people thought a revolution could offor them (in the sense of land and agrarian reform that is). Another problem was most of the people in the areas the foco was in didn't speak spanish, and the language Che's men had trained to speak wasn't the same language that the locals spoke. Anyway, you guys pretty much summed up the rest of the problems too.

up to knowledges comment. The CIA and Green Beret forces and the u.s goverment etc. did not want to kill che. They wanted him "Alive At All Costs" in the actuall words. They were to capture che and bring him back to the U.S.A for interigation. But thanks for giving me the link to that big thing on his death it really is interesting
