View Full Version : My Introduction; Hello, Everybody!

Hello everyone. I'm Jemdet Nasr, and I'd like to introduce myself to all of you. I am a student from Arkansas.

I am fairly new to the ideas of Socialism, but I have always believed in universal equality, and I've always been anti-capitalist. I currently consider myself a Communist, and, being so new to the movement, haven't quite figured out what I think the best way to end Capitalist hegemony is (that's to say: maybe I'm a reformist, maybe I'm a revolutionary!)

Partly because of the above, and partly because it's the way I think I can best contribute, my current goal for furthering our cause is to educate people about Socialism, and to destroy the ignorance about Socialism that many Americans have.

Also, since I'm fairly new, I haven't yet gotten involved with other local Socialists, and can't tell you much what the leftist scene is like here. I can tell you that Arkansas is a mostly right-wing state though, and I imagine we have a fairly small Socialist movement. But I hope to get involved soon and to help grow it!

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

You tell us that you're a communist, but do you have any specific ideas or are you still looking around? What groups are there in Arkansas?

I am certainly looking to develop my politics, but in general, I do believe in the idea of a currencyless, classless, stateless society. Even before I really discovered Socialism, I believed that money and class divisions should be done away with.

As for organizations in Arkansas, I know that the CPUSA has a few people here. That's about all the information I can find, since most stuff I've found has been about the movement pre-WWII. I'll probably post something to /r/socialism soon and try and connect with others through there. I've also been looking at parties like the SEP and SA. What do you guys think about those parties, or others?

Welcome! I'd suggest trying to meet like minded people and just checking out different events and educationals.
