I don't even know what that means. The sentence you underlined means, well, what it means. That Catholic social mores, and in general Christian social mores, being misogynist, homophobic and transphobic, supportive of class society and in certain cases openly racist as well, have no place among socialists.
I was raised Catholic and went to a Catholic school and I can honestly say that I dont know anyone who has these traits, certainly no one who would openly display them. I can also say that at school we were never, ever taught anything like this

Then, with due respect, you must not have been thought a lot of the Catechism.

I'm not sure when they stopped doing that to be honest. I'm 33 and was never taught it in primary or secondary school and there were both priests and Christian brothers in my secondary school. I teach in a catholic school now, in England as opposed to Ireland where I went to school, and we don't teach it either. I didn't do religion past GCSE right enough so I can't say if it's done at A Level

That might very well be the case, but my point was that the official doctrine of the Church, as outlined in the Catechism and other documents, is homophobic, misogynist etc.

The Vatican certainly does, and in fact it has reaffirmed the stance that e.g. homosexuality is a sin, that abortion is a sin etc. several times. And the Vatican defines what Catholicism is.
I don't know when the latest revision was. I suspect after Vatican I.

I think Pope Francis is working hard to get that mindset eradicated though I could be wrong

I don't see how. The good pontiff has been overhyped, more than even Bioshock Infinite, and what has he done? Nothing. In the meantime, Catholic doctrine is Catholic doctrine, and it has no place on the Left.

Unfortunately what he is doing is nothing more than making the Church Universal go through a much needed makeover. Behind it all the same reactionary bureaucratic element will still be there with one agenda, self preservation or in other words PLACE AND PELF.

Like I said, I may be wrong. I based that on a few articles I had read online

And that if a man has sex with his wife for reasons other than having babies it's as much of a sin as if he raped someone. Naturally, nobody takes this seriously anymore because religion is nothing more than a reflection of the society that created it.
And as society becomes less intolerant the religious beliefs of said society will become more tolerant. It's not like god invented man after all. Quite the opposite.
And the Vatican defines what Catholicism is.
To an extent, but not nearly as much as Catholics do.
I don't see how. The good pontiff has been overhyped, more than even Bioshock Infinite, and what has he done? Nothing. In the meantime, Catholic doctrine is Catholic doctrine, and it has no place on the Left.
For at least one thing, he has asked all Catholics worldwide for their opinions on Catholic doctrine such as contraception, gay rights, and abortion, and many believe the pontiff is going to use the results to make major shifts in Catholic doctrine.
But the issue I see with this is that, as I have stated, religion is merely a reflection of society. Catholics in the States, much of Latin America, and Europe (American bishops aside) tend to already be very tolerant and open for change. They see the Pope mouthing off the current dogma like Russians viewed Gorbachev describing the greatness of communism in the early 1980s: Everyone knew he was just going through the motions and absolutely nobody believed what was actually being said anymore, party officials included. However, in Africa Catholics there unfortunately tend to reflect a society that is very misogynistic and blames homosexuals for many of societies ills. When they are surveyed they are undoubtedly going to tell Pope Francis that they would like absolutely nothing to do with tolerance or openness.
The course he takes there, whether he will listen to what he knows is right or whether he will cave to the beliefs of these barbaric societies that are also quite Catholic will be when he is worthy of being judged, imho.
