Recently I wrote an article exposing neo nazi music releases in the UK. A participant in one of the festivals claimed to be Antifascist and Anarchist but admitted he knew the record label and production company 'flirted' with fascist ideology. When questioned on this he replied it would make him a fascist if he shame those type of people.
Any views on that?

Obviously exposing and shaming people who want to kill Jews, gay people, trade unionists etc. is the same as killing Jews, gay people, trade unionists etc. What an incredibly myopic, privileged view. "Fascism" is a very specific type of bourgeois dictatorship, it isn't just a swear word for anyone who acts in an a-a-authoritarian way (obviously revolutionaries don't care about the innate universal rights of their enemies much - so are we all "fascists" according to your friend?).

he isnt a friend, just someone who got caught up in the connections in the article and realises what he obliviously got involved with. Once my privileges are upped on here I will reveal all. Basically the label released a highly anti islamic cassette with a rather obvious statement attached and I just didnt agree with that. Yeah I agree, fascist seems to be used as a bi-word for anyone who questions the motives of another in a political context.

this guy is neither antifa nor anarchist, this is a tired old liberal argument.
a week or so ago i had a guy argue at me in completely unsurprising fashion that if you live in a democracy you have to let fascists freely express their ideas and even hold office if "the people" elect them because otherwise you're a "totalitarian"
fucking liberals man

That's why I just go with, "we should **** all hardcore fascists and debate the few that could be swayed - the very, very few."

In terms of strength and will, in terms of power and ruthlessness, we must outdo the Fascist. We must make them tremble in awe at our might. Behind every liberal is a fascist waiting to be set free.

yeah that's the same thing with people who go like "extreme left and extreme right is the same".
yeah, totally the same, except that the one side hates people because of their color of skin, ethnicity and so one and the other side's reacting to that. But apart from that, totally the same :frog:

The noble warrior thrusts his sword all the same as his barbarous foe.
Zizek speaks of the necessity to defend the Christian notion of the enemy, that understanding and empathy does NOT render the enemy a friend, that "evil" (or in our case, reaction, counter revolution) exists as an actual phenomena, that there is no misunderstanding. I think this is all the more relevant here.

Fascists do not hold rallies and marches to simply 'express their views'.
Fascists hold their rallies and marches for one specific purpose: intimidation.
They do it to strike fear into racial, religious, sexual and political minorities who they fully intend to subjugate, displace, and exterminate by force of law and arms.
A fascists doesn't get the privilege of free speech. He gets a tire iron to the back of his skull. Because you know damn well that he would do the exact same thing to you, had he the opportunity.

Yeah someone who thinks that fascist rallies are just about the free expression of political speech obviously doesn't know much about fascist mythos, in regards to "winning the streets" and such.

Any views on that?I think I know the answer:
it's because the music business is all about the $$$ and this person knows that excluding fascists means excluding their money
Shouldn't that be obvious? What kind of communists are you people?

He has no understanding of the term 'fascist'. It reminds me of being told that you have to 'respect everyone's opinion' and if you don't it's 'intolerance'. Actually, all you have to respect is their right to have an opinion - you don't have to respect the opinion itself. The neo-nazis are able to express their opinion, so why is he not able to shame them for it? You wouldn't call counter-protesters at a Westboro Baptist picket 'fascist' for trying to shame the 'God hates fags' nutcases.

And so the cycle will never stop. Why should they put down their arms if you won't even make an attempt at peace? And most of you would saw your own fucking hands off before you touched a gun so is this a fight you really think you'd win?
