I'm with SI, don't worry about your English. It will improve with time and if we ever don't understand what you're saying (which is unlikely) we will just ask for clarification.

Hope you have a wonderful time at this forum!

Willkommen :).
Wird schon mit dem Englisch.
So how's the left in Austria? I never heard anything from our neighbours, (besides the Akademikerball thing) concerning leftist stuff.

Yes, some moderator besides me approved this thread. It is quite annoying when it happens.

Anyway...

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

Yes, we have quite a few CWI'ers here. What attracts you to this organisation? Given that you're still 'looking around' I suppose it is the fact that you joined an established group that attracted you?

the situation of the left in austria is terrible. the kpö ( kommunist party austria) isnt even in the parlament. the cwi section has only 0.01 percent of the votes. the right wing party fpö with faschist tendencies is likely to win the next election. the socialdemokrats are cutting together with the conservative party övp. the greens are just stupid. more and more righwing parties are popping up. the extremly neolibeal party neos made it in the parlament in its first canditatur, and will likely get more votes next term.
its look pretty dark here in the reaktionary s*** hole austria

its the only non stalinist organisation in austria excluding the kpö. the problem with the kpö in my oppinion is, that they do nothing. they just hope for a seat in the parlament which they wont get, beacause they are terrible at presenting themselfes. they only march at the first may. they dont partisapate in union fights. i have met the slp at a demonstration against the rightwing party fpö. i went to some of there meetings. they are really active. thats why i am attracted to the slp. i now began to read trozki, and i like what i read, although i think he is a bit hypocritical.

i think the worst socialdemocracys in europe are currently in hungary france and germany.
but the spö wants to establish the 12 hour day now. and in the fpö you have morons like andreas mölzer saying bullshit like the eu is like the third reich...

I think there you strike a rather important point: I think we need to take Europe seriously. If we want to establish an alternative to capitalism, then we must think continentally, at the very least. I'd therefore call for a European Democratic Republic. This implies a political program for the democratisation of the existing EU. Such a program, fighting for a European democratic republic, would feature demands that aim to build our class as a class-collective, across the continent, and politically arm it to take over political power.

This is unlike the CWI majority, which has the position that we need to establish a socialist nation first, even break up existing states like the position on Scotland (http://www.socialistworld.net/doc/6709) and Catalonia (http://www.socialistworld.net/doc/6016), only to have a socialist 'confederation' at some undetermined point in the future. In my opinion this would result in a disaster, if it ever became a true policy and here is why (http://www.revleft.com/vb/blog.php?b=18836).
