Comrades,

The organisation I chair is hosting a May Day event at my University entitled 'Working-Class Identity in Malta'. I have no idea how to go about designing a poster for this event; I'm not very good at design and I'd like to have a decent attention-grabbing poster. Any tips?

Keep it simple. The main things are the title of the meeting (so people have an idea what it's about) and the time/place. If you have a graphic (angry people are quite good most of the time) use that. Your group is unknown (I would guess even in your uni, I seem to remember you starting it about 4 months ago and I'd be supprised if many people know who you are) so don't bother with a logo. But put your group's name on there, quite small.

That's my advice anyway.

Make the title of event in the biggest font size by a significant margin. It amazes me how many people still don't do this and put everything in the same or similar font size.
