Hi.
I'm moving to Florida very soon and would like to start an anti-capitalist environmental group or coalition or something of that sort.
Not to talk to much about tactics, but direct action I think is usually best, so don't worry, I don't plan on this amounting to just some dumb petition on change.org or something.
I'm looking for specific issues that such a group could rally around. Does anyone have any insights as to what the biggest ways are currently that capitalist companies are harming the Florida environment and its ecological interactions (specifically in central or north Florida would be best)? Or does anyone have any idea where I might even get started on looking for opportunities to confront the types of threats that capitalists pose to the environment in Florida?
I'll be in Gainesville, so I'm not to worried about being able to get at least a few people involved - there are at least some radicals in that town.
Just to be clear, I don't think environmental activism is superior or more important or anything, it just sort of is more of my forte. I've been involved with some environmental coalitions and actions here in CT but have no idea what it's like down in Florida.
Any ideas on what environmental problems/companies might be good to focus direct actions on and/or how to get started? Obviously don't recommend anything illegal or anything like that since this is a public forum and all.
Thanks.
