Brandon's Impotent Rage

OK, so this is probably a bit of a silly question....
We all know the symbol of the crossed sickle and hammer. It's been a symbol of hope for millions of workers (and a symbol of terror for thousands of bourgeoisie), but I've noticed that some groups actually put the two implements on different sides.
We all know the standard:

But I've also seen the tools pointing in different directions, like so:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/de/Logo_of_the_Fourth_International.svg/485px-Logo_of_the_Fourth_International.svg.png
So I must ask: Is there any significance to the way these tools are facing? Or is it just some sort of stylistic choice?
