Women between 25 and 30 years now earn more money then men of the same age. This is mostly because Dutch women are better educated. The gap in income between men and women in general has narrowed as well, a few years ago men earned about 20% more then women, now that figure is 18%.

I suppose this is a good development. My grandmother wasn't able to go to university but now women are higher educated then men of my generation. This comes to me as no surprise seeing that girls are in general better learners though

I have to say this may also be the result of the reforms in higher education which seems more difficult for men to follow then for women. You know need to follow more subjects in the broad sense instead of the specialism-directed schools of the old days. For young men it seems harder to keep this up.

In another news, the unemployment percentage in the Netherlands has risen to 8,8% and unemployment for young people is close to 25%

I am fearfully awaiting what the MRAs have to say about this.

We don't have them here in the Netherlands, as far as I'm aware of.

As a man I could only say I'm glad with this development. In a sense it means that women are more financially independent and therefor have more choice in say looking for a partner and man need to worry less about being a 'breadwinner', being more free in choosing a job that maybe pays less but is more suited to your taste.. Ideally so, but unfortunately households have become so expensive these days that you need two 'breadwinners' (certainly if you have kids).

Well that's just plain Matriarchy.
On an actually serious note,

I believe this is to do with the way they are conditioned differently by society, rather than any innate sex-based inclination, if it is so.

Maybe, I talk about my own experiences basically and some stuff I read about the workings of the female brain being better suited for learning multiple disciplines at once. Not on expert on that area but it could be so.

Societal conditioning is probably a bigger factor yes, ironically young women of Moroccan decent actually are doing much better then there male counterparts. Maybe this means that in the near future it will be these western muslim women who will prove a major force in the emancipation struggle in the Islam?
