Woah, I guess the first time I saw that movie I didn't even know what communism was exactly. I think I know where you get the impression of it being a communist "satire" though. I'm gonna have to see it again though to refresh my memory of what went on. Hey didn't sylvester stalone do one of the voices  ? Ants are communists.

ANTS ruthlessly bashed communism, portraying the ant colony as militaristic, boring, and repressive. Then they decided to portray a garbage can as 'paradise'. Go Disney.

It was WB, same crap, though.

Disney did make another movie about ants that was released a bit after Antz and kinda beat that movie to a pulp at the box offices. It was A Bug's Life about an ant revolution against the grasshoppers who would come by every year to take the ant's harvest. Communistic, I think, eh? Better than shit like the Lion King that teaches that royal hierarchy must be maintained, eh?

Antz wasn't from Disney, maybe you were thinking about A Bug's Life. And I agree, ants are communists, why can't humans be like that?

Ortega

I would assume that it's the way we're raised. Humans, in a capitalistic society, are raised to be greedy and self-serving, while ants are raised only to work for the good of the community.

Not very communist, eh?

Ants seem pretty damn hierarchial aswell. There are such thing as queens you know.

actually Lion King is sorta a mix between Bambi and Hamlet, during the production of the film the writers jokingly(sp) called it "Hambi"

Yes, there is but communists also need someone to lead them. Not really a superior but just someone to give order to everything or something of that sort.

I love the ants. I respect them cause they dont do stupid stuff like us. I watch then crawl around my kitchen in awe.

I dont think the queen was really designed to be higher than the others she was just there to poo them out. now theres a thing humans really couldnt do. Any a bugs life was more about the perfect revoloution as there is a lot of reference to the fact that the ants en masse could beat the grasshoppers easily.

and i just realise what the hell im saying

I remember an ant in that movie commenting that it was the workers who controlled the production in the colony.

I liked "A Bugs Life" better, both because the message was better and also because it was better-looking.

Also, you guys that admire ants are morons. Ants are DRONES. Selfless drones that obey whatever orders their queen give them. You don't wanna model your society on ants, because that would mean the end of self, and thass reel bad.

Oh what a day when you can be called a moron for liking ants.

He said, "people who admire ants". In referrence to their society.

And I completely agree. Even though I'm one of those 'hardline' Marxist-Leninists who believes that the needs of the whole are always ahead of thiose of the individual, I also agree that completely phasing out individuality is a very bad goal.

Our individuality is the very essence of what makes us human. Individualism is most evident in Human Kind, and to throw that away and attempt to base our society on an anthill is to step back beyond the stone age.

Co-operation and equality, yes! Uniformity and lack of individualism, no!

hah, same here. I can see how it is though. I saw before in somebody's sig that communism was "ants in an anthill" and capitalism is "big fish eating small fish in a sea", which was an awesome analogy.
