The ACLU’s Ben Wizner and Christopher Soghoian interviewed Edward Snowden through 7 different IP/Proxies. His loudest message is encrypting works. He mentions for individual users to use TOR or Firefox is more secure than Chrome because Chrome is created by advertiser to gather information for 3rd party companies.

He also reiterates that when using Facebook and Twitter you are not secure. I was told my a local detective even on a local level, law enforcement can easily secure a warrant to retrieve your personal info.

ya def that last part about facebook people for some reason just don't get it and refuse to believe that beat cop investigators/detectives can use tech too and they do there are plenty of examples of it

also if the idea that phones being tapped is too much of a stretch for some to believe, believing that warrants to retrieve cell tower data to tell what phones were in what area at a certain time to narrow down searches should be pretty believable

The federal courts have vindacated Snowden as a whistle blower. The ACLU is in the mist of a national campaign seeking immunity in his case.

Snowden says the difference between government surveillance and snooping by private Internet companies, is he considers government surveillance more insidious because the government has the ability to deprive you of rights. They can jail you.
