This isn't another modern war shooter. This game is about the people who get caught in the crossfire in war. The civilians and the bystanders who have to find ways to survive in a desperate situation.

It's about survival. About trying to continue a harrowing existence within a besieged city.

Which city? We aren't told. It could be yours. That's the point.

Much the same way that Spec Ops: The Line managed to shine a light on the horrors of war from a soldier's perspective, I hope this game somehow manages to do the same from that of a non-combatant...probably the one real-life element of modern warfare that all of the modern war games completely ignore.

Oh, and for those who are curious:

Here's that haunting piece of music from the teaser. It's called "Girl with Pearls in Her Hair" and it's by the Hungarian band Omega.

Joystiq has some new information about the game, including screenshots. (http://www.joystiq.com/2014/03/21/surviving-hell-in-11-bits-this-war-of-mine/)

The game is in 2D, presented in the harsh, charcoal graphic style as was seen in the trailer. It lays on the atmosphere VERY thick.

Amazing trailer.
Let's hope it will be a really deep game and not pseudo-deep with stupid, forseeable plot twists.

The only thing I wish was that it would be presented in 3D. Otherwise it sounds like a great game.

3D is a Modern expectation of a game but honestly sometimes the message gets lost in visual translation that or it has something to do with funding and what engine is available to them and so on but regardless of what perspective it is in it does look like a great game and seems very educational from a leftist perspective but it also gives you choices of helping your fellow survivors I would be interested to see if there are serious consequences for being a lone wolf and also the struggles of creating a Survivalist society in the confines of a warzone.

I think it's prolly just a stylistic decision, to have the 2D. Again, I don't think it's gonna cause problems for me as a player, but it's something I prefer because I can do more with my movement and interaction with the game.

Overall still very excited.
