from one of my top 10-EVER-records. No past, no presence, no future.
So pissed off, so disaffected. The singer passed away at the age of 24 during a show, he accidentally choked himself with the mic cable (http://www.punknews.org/article/31540/inmemoriam-dominic-mallory-of-last-lights-1984-2008).
This was their only LP. Another proof for Boston Hardcore being best.

Really good playlist here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0407gty/Louis_Theroux/Louis takes us on his idiosyncratic musical tour of the City of Los Angeles, his home for the last year or so. The program includes songs from The Doors, NWA, War and The Beach Boys. He opens the program with People Are Strange by The Doors, joking it could almost serve as a manifesto for his career and view of the world, and this pretty much sets the tone for the show. He shares his love of hip-hop and rap and how this music had a big impact on him in his youth, with artists such as Tupac, Snoop Dogg and Cypress Hill. He tells how Beck makes him wonder whether there isn't something to Scientology, and how going to a Stranglers gig with his parents damaged his relationship with their music. He talks of his admiration for the music of Elliot Smith, with whom he had a rather awkward and embarrassing interview moment, and goes intergalactic with The Carpenters. He readily admits that some of the links to LA aren't perhaps the strongest and most credible, but his frankness and charm more than carry you along on the journey with him! The program complements his BBC2 series Louis Theroux's LA Stories.

Chemlab - Vera Blue
Wa_mRQ79G24
This is particularly bittersweet since Vera Blue was how I used to call an old, former, friend. She isn't "locked in cell block 2", but I don't think I'll ever see her again - or hear from her for that matter.
Incidentally, I've started listening to Chemlab a lot lately. I guess it reminds me of university, and their music is nice, pleasant to listen to (at least as far as I'm concerned; to other people it might sound like horrible noise) and the lyrics are interesting without being pretentious.

Along the shore the cloud waves break,The twin suns sink behind the lake,The shadows lengthen In Carcosa.
Strange is the night where black stars rise,And strange moons circle through the skies,But stranger still is Lost Carcosa.
Songs that the Hyades shall sing,Where flap the tatters of the King,Must die unheard in Dim Carcosa.
Song of my soul, my voice is dead,Die thou, unsung, as tears unshedShall dry and die in Lost Carcosa.

Gotta say that for a Christian band this music video is pretty dark; I like it. I really do. It may be a bit lengthy of a watch (five minutes) but the ending is, in my opinion, worth it. There is the obvious moralist references (Cigarettes, drugs, etc) but still, the ending is... something I am surprised they went with. Not hugely out of place considering what they wanted to do but still. Rather intense for their genre.

Early Maiden is best Maiden.
Middle Maiden is best Maiden. Late Maiden is just a bunch of whiny Tories, ugh. (Well, they've always been that, but good grief does it show recently.)

This is one of those songs I would probably enjoy a lot less if I didn't know the meaning. With the background music though, it's eerily poetic. In a weird way, the album kind of has this poetic/romantic luster to it. It's like 'We've got nothing to live for, let's blow up this plane/shoot this exec etc etc". It's the same thing with these hardcore 'terrorist' groups in the developed world (IRA as well for example). To be part of it, you've got to believe so strongly in what you're doing. You don't care about your own life, and you're supremely confident that what you're doing is right. That dedication (bad choice of words?) is almost unheard of in the society we live in. They live in a totally different level

I'm going to play this in the break room when if and when I see my crush next time.
Wish me luck.
She's extra-nice to me and vice versa, plus I'm taller than her, and most girls see tallness as a turn-on. But there's no way to know for sure, I'm going to ask her out soon so I don't get friend-zoned.

The first memory I have of this song is of me lying on my bed in a fairly cheap hotel room, boots on the linen, listening to this song over and over on my iPod, drunk off my face and trying to smoke a cigarette. Since then I have found myself listening to it whenever I feel stressed out and unable to go on. It doesn't exactly give me the strength to go on, but it does help me feel a sort of detachment from my problems.

Getting naked and playing with guns
There’s a gerbil in the microwave, a baseball bat in everyone
Sharing kisses and building a bomb
We’ll set it off like Microsoft in ’94
We’ll set it off like Microsoft in ’94
McDonald's PlayPlace before the Xbox.
Cake frosting, sweet talking, bedroom wall
Covered in knives, touching God, burning shit
We’ll make a wish and take a trip to Future Town like our daddy did
And we’ll kill the neighbor kid who only wants to be our friend
His dad is dead enough that his new dad his new dad can cure the bends
We’ll make a wish and take a trip to Future Town
Feeling weird, yet tasting sweet.
It’s a top-bottom, rock-smoking magic mask making it bleed
Feeling sweet, getting weird
Now I can see the playground through the trees
And I can see the playground from the trees
And we’ll show the neighbor kid what our love actually means
He’s here from out of town and I heard he’s got A.D.D.
We’ll climb the tallest branch with a rifle full of dreams.
And we’ll blow the little dickhead up to smithereens
Getting naked and playing with guns
There’s a gerbil in the microwave, a baseball bat in everyone
Sharing kisses and building a bomb
We’ll set it off like Microsoft in ’94
We’ll set it off like Microsoft in ’94
We’ll set it off like Microsoft in ’94 in our backyard.AJJ - Getting Naked, PLaying with Guns

i dunno these guys are just indie rock. Modest Mouse was a big ol' influence on these guys. They actually got their name from Eric Judy, asking him to name their band while he was extremely drunk. Johnny Marr also likes them so hey.
