Just wanted to know what any of you who have read it thought of the book itself.

I've just started reading it, and am in the 2nd chapter. Is it one of Chomsky's best?

I read it a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was one of the best books Chomsky has ever written. Very much to the point.

I especially liked his discussion on the "ugly masses" being ruled by a small group of "great men", from the colonial period and onward.

I'll be interested in hearing what you've got to say about the rest of the book.

It's typical Chomsky, although certainly worth reading if one is new to him. I haven't actually finished it yet, but I can tell you it's worthwhile.

I read the book recently. I liked it alot. I thought he did a great job using quotes to show how ruthless, and insane American leaders and elitist intellectuals are. I just started reading the Chomsky Reader, so far I like it better than Hegemony but they are both great books.

Hegemony or survival is a great book, undoubtably the best Chomsky work i have read. His use of very in depth research backed up by copious amounts of evidence make many of his arguments nearly irrefutable.

I particuallarly liked his comparison of state and individual terror using nicaragua as an example. I now use the fact that america is the only state ever to be tried and found guilty of international terrorism in all my debates.

Anyway yeah it is worth reading, since the last time he released a real book was like 10 years ago.

I'm 96 pages into it. Great stuff from Chomsky as usual.
