Two men have been arrested tonight as protests outside the Convention Centre in Dublin turned violent.
Clashes between anti-austerity protesters and gardai escalated outside the building where the two-day European People's Party congress is being hosted by Fine Gael.
Earlier this evening, around 200 protesters marched from Liberty Hall to the Convention Centre.
The crowd joined a smaller group of people who had congregated at the Centre some time beforehand.
The originally peaceful protest quickly became violent and a gardai has been injured in the fracas.
Approximately 2,000 delegates from all across Europe - including German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Presidents of the European Commission and European Council, José Manuel Barroso and Herman Van Rompuy - are attending the EPP meeting.
The crisis in the Ukraine has dominated a large portion of the conference as newly-elected interim Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseny Yatsenyuk, freed opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko and Vitaly
