Dating and Relationships Thread
Although the job of leftists is to overthrow the bourgeoisie, fight capitalism, and bring about a international socialist revolution, at the end of the day there is still something we desire. Whether we crave men or women, we still need love.
Here's a few questions to get the thread going.
When was the last time you were in a relationship?
How long was it?
How was it?
Why did it end?
What are your preferences?

I'll go first obviously.
Haven't been in much of a relationship in two years. And every time I did have a "relationship" they only lasted a few days. They were nice but there was always limitations. Thus I never had and possibly never will have a good relationship.
I want a girl who is like me. She has to share my political views of course. Have a rebellious personality. Be into the same kind of movies and tv show genres (which are zombie films, and SciFi) as me, and be close to my age (18).

I haven't had any serious relationships for a couple years with a few flings and such here and there. Last one was pretty cool, we still keep in touch over the internet from time to time. A few weeks in she tells me how she's had these plans to move with her friend to Idaho for a while and I wasn't going to up and leave to Idaho and neither one of us really wanted to do that whole long distance relationship thing so we decided to just have fun until she left. Which really sucks because she was cool like I said :(
I prefer a woman who will help inspire me to do better things, who isn't weirded out by the weird things I say(Which takes a special kind of person), someone who would be a comrade in the struggle, someone who is strong.

Oh lord, this is why I hate the left. :P
My last relationship ended about 4 months ago in really fucked up and damaging circumstances. It lasted about 9 months and was awesome until it suddenly went very bad. I have a tendency to quickly get into intense relationships that last a short while, usually like 9-18 months before ending spectacularly and catastrophically, though not always suddenly. I seem to attract and am drawn to a certain type of insecure person (fearful-avoidants) - I'm trying to avoid becoming involved with these kinds of people in the future... Don't get me wrong, I love 'em to bits (even if they do hate my guts), but my exes' insecurities have tended to collide with mine in really unhealthy ways. I started seeing someone recently who i think is different, I think they're a bit more like me, but it's silly I think I find them less attractive for this reason, almost like it's too easy (which it actually isn't, or not really anyway).

Here's a few questions to get the thread going.
When was the last time you were in a relationship?
Still in one.
How long was it?
Five years together, married a year and a half.
How was it?
I love my husband to bits. He's my best friend, we are equally weird (although in different ways), and the sex is still fantastic.
Don't get me wrong, we've had our rough patches, but all in all it is by far the healthiest relationship I've ever had.
Why did it end?
It didn't. ;)
What are your preferences?
Well, sexual preference is gay. I prefer someone smart, laid back, funny and fun.
That about sums it up.

The only relationship I've ever had that is note worthy, was 5 years and ended recently, but has turned into a really close friendship. Its been nice keeping that closeness and also been good for me to be on my own and forced to take care of myself, after all those years of relying on someone.

I say just leave him be. I think staying on RevLeft will bring him closer to being an actual socialist as time goes on. He'll absorb communist logic from this place, replace his blood with THC and caffeine and he will become immortal. All hail Satan!
As per my last relationship, it was fucking horrible, it lasted two years and two months. I was in love with her way to heavily, and she didn't give a fuck about me, and she would abuse me. I don't want to say anymore or talk about that fucking relationship in all honesty. I hate my ex and I could never be around her again.

This is actually a sick burn if that's how you meant it. You might be alright after all.

Lol it wasn't suppose to be. But really. Do you have a love life? Ever since I joined RevLeft I thought you might.

When was the last time you were in a relationship?
I broke up with him in May 2013, now I'm in kind of a dating-thing, getting to know him, making out and stuff (no sex) still very fresh and innocent, no relationship (yet).
How long was it?
One year.
How was it?
exhausting. I was so in love, but he was just too young (I was 25 and he was 20), our lifestyles totally different and moreover, he lived 400 miles away. He lied about some stuff in order to appeal more interesting to me and the sex was...well...let's not talk about it
Why did it end?
see above.
What are your preferences?
Guys. I'd like to like girls, too, but it's just not there. I tried this stuff, but it's just not working for me. I like them tall (> 5'9) and bearded. Some guy called my taste in men "archaic", which he found very surprising for a feminist.

I was kind of E-dating this girl I met while playing minecraft. But she was 15 and I'm 18, we had like no chemistry.

1. A little over a year was the last time in a 'commited' sexual relationship. I suppose I feel too young and inexperienced to have yet had a true, "romantic" relationship.
2. My whole life
3. I never really thought about it much. We met when I was three and were best friends growing up in rural Germany. Going to the nude beach with our parents regularly as small children and living in a small village has it's natural consequences for pubescent teens.
4. It ended because life is very hard to figure out and we had our own ideas on how to go about that.
My preferances? I noticed that there are not many brunettes that I'm not attracted to. Besides that, however, I would prefer a person that has the positive character attributes that I don't have and someone that genuinely does not mind listening to all the things I feel the need to say.

I've tried talking to girls from Russia. They're very nice to talk to, but learning cryllic/Slavic is wayy to hard.
So basically I have to settle for the boring ol' anglosphere.
