I recently read about bossnapping in France. It sounds awesome. I have read however that one can get life in prison for kidnapping. Though I'm sure that the charges would vary between states and municipalities. I was curious whether anything like that has been tried in the US? Hypothetically speaking, even if arrested, would it be an effective tactic?

As a hypothetical you'd prolly have to do this to a pretty big-time player in an industry to have it be effective in any way- however, hypothetically, I couldn't hurt to use "little" bosses.

I'd let a couple of my employees bossnap me, they've got good weed :) I don't think that'd count as kidnapping though, be more of a road trip, and then we'd lose work and get negative word of mouth for disappearing and getting nothing done. Bossnapping would be significantly more effective if you abducted a bigger boss, and I'm not much of a boss.

Haha, imagine trying to do this in the US.
"But... but... we can't... kidnap somebody! That's... that's just plain, violent!"
And of course the media would hop on it. You would be the disgruntled employee who's gone 'postal'. Any political meaning would be lost on them.
In some ways, France is a very different place than the US. But yeah, I agree that if you did it on a large enough scale, it could theoretically gain momentum. It would have to be big though, and very overtly-political
