So I'm going to expose myself to this Hollywood dribble to see what's going to destroy my head first.
We're out of the gate with Jared Leto for "Best Supporting Actor" for Dallas Buyers' Club (which I haven't had a chance to see) who gave a call out to protestors in Venezuela (and Ukraine, but my ears pricked up at "venezuela") in his acceptance speech. Yeah!
Edit: 7:50 here comes Pharrell with that damn hat again

He didn't say which side he was rootin' for, sneaky.
Also, there is not enough Xanax in the world to subdue the anger I feel that my longtime life partner Amy Adams was snubbed.:(

I was being sarcastic. I was leading on with my bit about hollywood entitlement, they tend to act like they know what's up in the world.
As for the rest of the show, there wasn't anything else notable except for that older woman acting weird when they introduced one of the categories (she looked familiar but I'm totally zoning out right now). I suppose what most people'll look at as the big "snub" was how American Hustle (haven't seen that one either) got like a ton of nominations but didn't win a single award, not even one of the minor ones. I did like though how the Italian crew that won the foreign picture award gave a shot out to Maradona of people to thank, heh.

K. Leto added to my Hollywood Actors Who Can Go Fuck Off list - it's so looong.

I can't believe Her won best original screenplay, it is the worst film of the year. Biggest disappointment was Act of Killing not winning best documentary. It was robbed.

I never saw a chance to see Act of Killing but I have heard of it. I didn't hear about the one that did win best documentary "20 Feet from Stardom". Looking at the summary it says its about backup singers and how they are used and treated in the music industry. Interesting topic but is it really a "bold" subject?
I guess there was some strong lobbying to keep it out of contention, there were some critics who were saying it was little better than a snuff film to them, but to me a good documentary should be one that provokes a response from the watcher and inspires debate which Act of Killing seems to have done.
