Any ideas as to where I and a friend should go on holiday this year? Looking at about a week or so. Would prefer the Western world.

Two places that I liked a lot in Europe the one time I travelled there were Prague, Czech Republic and Zagreb, Croatia.

I'm very sorry.
Prague is alright, though. As is Vienna.

I actually got a tour of Zagreb from a former member of this board, a skinhead & left communist haha. Good guy. It was new year's there, too, pretty celebratory mood.

I'm a little scared of Prague after watching the "Hostel" movies LOL.

As far as Canada goes, both B.C. and Quebec are pretty nice. I guess it depends on what time of year you plan on travelling though. During the summer time adventuring around Vancouver island is pretty fun.

They are both in Czechoslovakia though, aren't they?

Yeah, former Czechoslovakia. Not the same city, though, obviously.

It was sort of supposed to be a bit of a joke. Maybe I should have put a smiley on it. I'm living in Prague at the moment, and lots of people I know, for example a friend I was speaking to on skype last night in Tripoli, still think that it is Czechoslovakia.

Don't be such a hater, Zagreb is alright if you don't spend more than a week in it and even more so if you know a resident that can show you around.
Vienna was pretty boring to me tbh. Prague is great.

Dubrovnik is too touristy if you ask me. At least it's so during summer. And it's very expensive, especially in the center, around Stradun. If you go there, don't ever go for a drink or coffee there, buy them outside the Old Town.
As for Croatia, I'd recommend Istria or Šibenik. If you come down here, you'll probably want to visit more places.
Also Slovenia is nice.
