Hey all. I'm 16 years old (about to turn 17 in a few months) and can currently describe myself as somewhat of a Marxist-Leninist, though tbh, I'm still kind of in the learning stage and am open to exploring other ideologies like anarchism and Maoism. So please don't bash me too hard if I make some errors, since I'm here to discuss and learn. I've yet to actually read the Communist Manifesto due to the environment that I live in. My dad is a former Marine and pure conservative who has strongly negative opinions of just about anyone who shows the slightest interest/support for left-wing ideologies. So I have to be really careful about stuff like that lol. But until then, I hope to learn new things and get a better understanding of the world around me and how to change it for the betterment of the people. I'm looking forward to my time on here. Thanks guys!

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

Welcome to the forum. I live in DC, so I am a neighbor. I would recommend that you read Howard Zinn's "A People 's History of the United States" Most of American history as taught in high school is very distorted. This book will give you some points to discuss with your classmates to move them left. I know of a Marxist study circle in Montgomery County MD of high school students I could put you in contact with if you are interested. Private message me.

Welcome. Making errors is normal, and we've all made them. And, just in case a 'hard copy' might get unwanted attention from your dad;

Best to find a quiet space to read and think about this stuff. free thought is hard because other people like feeling 'safe' with what they already know, but its very satisfying when you get that eureka moment and suddenly can see things you didn't see before.

Welcome to the forums. You will make mistakes, we all do. I think we all are learning all the time.

I've yet to actually read the Communist Manifesto due to the environment that I live in.

The manifesto is a common starting point, but I don't believe it's necessary. What is more important is defining for yourself what kind of society you are aiming for, and ensuring that vision is logical and coherent.

My dad is a former Marine and pure conservative who has strongly negative opinions of just about anyone who shows the slightest interest/support for left-wing ideologies. So I have to be really careful about stuff like that lol.

Yes, since you are still underage and under the roof of your parents I would recommend against being outspoken about controversial beliefs. Sadly there have been many neoliberal distortions of left-wing politics in the mainstream. But that is part of what we hope to fix here.

But until then, I hope to learn new things and get a better understanding of the world around me and how to change it for the betterment of the people. I'm looking forward to my time on here. Thanks guys!

If I can help you, I welcome the opportunity, and I'm sure you will find others that feel the same.
