Since I was a child, I had a love of reading. I read at least one book from every political spectrum. Now, as I(for a while now) have made the decision of declaring myself a Socialist, I wish to read more Socialist literature. I was hoping that you good folks could provide for me a socialist reading list.

What is it you wanna know? I personally started with a classic pamphlet: The Communist Manifesto.
Then the 1st Volume of Das Kapital. I switched over to anarchist literature with: The Conquest of Bread by Kropotkin. As well as some foreign policy criticism from Noam Chomsky such as: Hegemony or Survival, and Profit Over People.

Draper's "Two Souls of Socialism" is a good introduction, if you ignore the nonsense about "bureaucratic collectivism". Apart from that, I would recommend that you familiarize yourself with Marx's "Critique of the Gotha Programme", "The Civil War in France", Lenin's "State and the Revolution" and "Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism" for now - skim through "Capital" a bit, perhaps.

would strongly recommend Maurice Cornforth's three volumes on "dialectical materialism", "historical materialism" and "theory of knowledge" (originally published in the fifties).
They are really well-written short books, but cover just about everything ideologically speaking. if you decide to get into the 'heavy stuff' which is really abstract- these are extremely reliable references books if you have a specific question on the Marxist philosophy (it's Marxist-Leninist or 'Stalinist', but a a lot of the ideas and problems are widely shared between the various schools of Marxism).

A while back I created a 'startup' reading list (http://www.revleft.com/vb/blog.php?b=7728). Maybe it's helpful.
