for those who have no hope in the unions, well the head of this near 1,000,000 strong union is a Socialist. And that figure is the lowest its gonna get, it just gets better from here on in
what are your views?

i'd also urge all British members to join the union, for any part time work you do, its 25p a week. Well worth it to give oil to the motor which will radicalise the working class id say

Woodley seems to be quite radical but we do need to remain somewhat skeptical of him until he's served (I hear it can be quite a punishment being a union boss if you're part of the awkward squad) more time as TGWU general secretary. We've seen the role played by union bosses in the past.

Essentially just don't put all your eggs in one basket. Union leaders have played treacherous roles in the past and we have to be careful. I don't think that Woodley will play that role but we still must be careful.

Airport Workers Strike (http://lark.phoblacht.net/spreply.html)
You may disregard the majority of the article if you wish, it's the Socialist Party's reply to an attack on its role played in a strike by Airport Workers in Belfast but there's also references to Woodley and quite a non-socialist role he plays and also to some of his policies.
We have many differences with Tony Woodley. He would not agree with our view that all union officials should be elected, not appointed. Nor would he endorse our call for the wages of officials – general secretaries included – to be limited to the level of the members they represent.
You cannot be a genuine socialist and not support those 2 fundamentals.
