Basically, it makes sense for us to try to separate our hobbies from capitalism as much as we can. So I figure a thread like this makes perfect sense, especially with the other gaming debate threads going on.

I might make my own list soon, but I believe these Megazell's Free and Legal PC Games List and the /V/ Recommends Freeware list are great places to start. I'm sorry that I don't have enough post in to link to these resources yet.

Some other ideas this or another thread might be the sharing of free resources for making games, which I admittedly don't know much about. Otherwise, talk about any freeware games you like, or recommend some. And obviously, any Rev Left member who has MADE freeware games is more than welcome to share their own on here.

Anyway, without further adieu, let the games begin!

TerraFire by ORT Software.

You'll need to download Dosbox emulator as well to run it in.

Both are freeware

http://www.dosbox.com/download.php?main=1

If you are using Linux, you should be able to install dosbox from your software repository.

As for installing TerraFire in Linux; install Wine first and then install TerraFire in Wine. Then, go to the Wine virtual C drive and copy the Terra Fire folder and paste it to your home directory. Then use Dosbox to mount and run it.

If you are installing in MS Windows, it is easier. Install Dosbox. then install Terra fire. Then run Terrafire from Dosbox.

Any problems, post them up here and I will give more detailed instructions.

It's a brilliant game.
