Hi everyone,
Been lurking for years, just reading the occasional post, and decided to take the plunge and register because well, reddit is shit and sometimes I'm highlycaffeinatedandneedtotypesomething while code is compiling or more coffee is percolating.
My interests are politics, history and making more coffee. Looking forward to great debates and learning stuff. :)

Welcome :)
If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!
If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.
What are your political ideas if anything in particular? Also, what do you code? :)

My political ideas are just anti-capitalist I guess. I've ran with local Anarchist and Trotskyist gangs in the past, because their politics are the least cringeworthy, but after being subjected to "party discipline" and seeing the inside of an "occupied space" I would cringe at the idea of calling myself a Trotskyist or Anarchist ever again.
I think calling the USSR "socialist" or a "workers' state," the concept of a structureless/stateless revolution, and abstention from any politically-impure political activity, are all stupid things, (no offense to anyone, I am stupidest of all you know) so I can't call myself a Leninist, an Anarchist or a Leftcom. Each tendency has its strengths but also its big yucky fly in the ointment.
Therefore I will try to stay out of the tendency wars except to observe and giggle at them. And point out historical facts, because the best solution to petty disputes is generally going back to the origin of the dispute and building a no-nonsense knowledgebase about WTF the debate is actually about in the first place.
re. programming, I know a tiny bit of everything but couldn't say I am well versed in any language. mainly work on silly indie game projects and fiddle with what other people have done already just trying to fix a bug or add a feature, but generally I have no idea what I'm doing. ;)
