I have heard that unemployment statistics in the U.S. are skewed by not counting people who stopped looking for work and counting as employed people engaged in shitty part-time or temp. work that doesn't have to pay for its employés' health insurance or anything. The Average American is conditioned to be in denial of her relative poverty (we're all "middle-class", aren't we?) by the media.

Yeah people who look at the Reagan years, "How jesus-like was that president? Unemployment was at a low rate!" Completely ignorant to the fact the working class was treated like shit. Just because people have jobs doesn't mean they were paid or treated well
