i had a 16 euro bill that i forgot to pay in time and i now got a brand new shiny bill from a debt collecting office: 56 fucking euros. 30 for "collection fees" and 10 as a payment for the office.
i just got paid so its not that bad but these pieces of shit charging 40 euros for literally nothing just pisses me off bc i mean thats still sorta lots of money really
im sure they're just fucking extatic about their role as the reverse robin hoods of our society, literally stealing from the poor and giving to the rich. cant think of lower, more parasitical and less productive shits could even exist

C'mon, you think it's not work tracking down and harassing people who owe a little bit of money?! The people who do this have to be paid more than your original bill, and where better to get this money than from someone who couldn't pay the original bill?!
Capitalist logic is flawless. No, really, debt is their sustenance, so they are smart about multiplying it. Then we have debtors' prison.

I feel your pain, comrade. I remember once when I had so little money in my bank that when they tried to take out my rent the transaction failed... and then they charged me money for not having any money! And when I couldn't pay either the rent or the ridiculous service charge, they tried to charge me again! Another pointless facet of capitalist money-making schemes is the ridiculous charge they throw on you when you're renting a house through a housing agency. Like, they charge you £50 for them to print off a contract for you to sign or some shit. Complete bullshit.

Ugh you have my sympathy. Debt collectors really are the lowest of the low. Not only do they steal from the poor to give to the rich but they also harass and bully people. I was on the receiving end of threatening phone calls every day a couple of years ago and it was fucking horrible.

To be honest, I actually find people who set up accounts in their children's names, run up huge debts over petty disagreements and then swan off to the other side of the world letting said children deal with the debt collectors to be marginally more worthy of the title 'scum of the Earth.' Might just be me, though...

Broke a phone contract a few years back and had to pay a £50 termination fee. Never did, despite a year and a half of getting threatening letters and phone calls everyday from collection agencies. I mean, with the 'Don't ignore this letter or we'll take you to court!' type bullshit, I kinda thought... and what would you do once you had me in court? Take the furniture I don't own out of my rented flat? I don't own a TV, my PC is worth about 20 pence, my clothes aren't even fit for a charity shop. After calling for the 50 thousandth time and me saying 'Think you've got the wrong number, mate', they just gave up.

Lmfao, for real, it's best just to ignore it I mean I've told numerous collections places to go ahead and try to send me to debtors prison, oh waittt, thats right those haven't existed since like the 19th century or some shit, so, theres that *click*
Been telling Comcast to sit and spin for a couple years now on 1k bill I refuse to pay. I ain't got no worries, lol.

Debt collectors are huge dicks generally speaking. Hospital debt collectors tend to be a bit nicer in my experience, I guess they know the whole thing is pretty fucked, dunno. University debt collectors are the worst though, viscous bastards them. I've never felt worse after hanging up the phone with someone than after a call from those dickheads.

I went up to York last weekend, bought a return ticket for around £30.
Had my tickets but forgot my youth railcard (which saves me 33%, so basically reduced the ticket by £15 from £45 to the £30 I paid).
The fucking scumbag ticket collector made me buy a new fucking ticket on the train for....£50. Fifty fucking quid. Then she suggested she'd 'do me a favour' and let me buy a return for £90 instead of paying extra on the way back. Turns out that when I went to the station in York, they would simply just upgrade my ticket to a full-price original and make me pay the difference for the return leg...£7.
I told her to look around - the train was less than half-full, she's not paid on commission and i'm a broke student. "I'm just doing my job". Yeah, fucking badly, asshole.

A guy I used to live with forgot to pay a £40 (or so) traffic fine, and then didn't pay the bailiffs. They were sent round to the house to collect our shit. We ended up paying about £400.

That is fucking bullshit. As though the train companies aren't already charging extortionate prices for their tickets.
In fact, pretty much everything about trains in this country pisses me off. They charge extortionate rates for tickets and if you book in advance (which is the only way to make rail travel affordable really) you have to book a specific seat on a specific train and if you get any other train your ticket isn't valid and you have to buy a new one. They must make so much money out of scamming people into buying new tickets. Also, not only are the tickets expensive but the service is crap and usually it turns out you've paid £50 to sit on the floor next to a smelly broken toilet for 3 hours. Fucking joke.

I know how you guys feel because i live in a family withnearly 20,000 dollars of debt and get calls every week. But you gotta pay your bills. You are manipulating (forgot how to spell using:lol:) objects or services and you have to pay for them wether you want to or not. ( damn my spelling is bad)

I remember I overdrew my bank account by two dollars and ended up having to pay 200 USD in charges (after the bank cut it in half in their infinite mercy). Turns out my bank doesn't give you a courtesy call about this kind of thing until the six month mark.

Bailiffs are fucking scum and I point-blank refuse to have anything to do with such thuggish parasites.

If my creditors want to settle the debt with me in a civilised manner then I'm willing to play ball. Bailiffs and other debt collectors on the other hand can go and fucking do one, they're nothing more than middlemen good for nothing other than intimidation.

Best course of action is to not acklowledge it's you on the phone when they call, don't confirm that you have a debt with them, then go through http://equifax.com and contest if off your credit report. You'll need to do it with Experian and TransUnion as well. It takes a little time to go from being a collections account to being on your record.
Trust me, $4,000 in medical bills got zapped off my credit report into thin air cuz I'm a credit report gangsta. Motherfuckers can't touch my fico score.

I was overdrawn for a few days when British Gas accidentally charged me too much for my bills - the result was when they paid me back the money they'd taken I was still overdrawn. Lost out on about £190 and I had to go a-begging to my parents which is always a fairly humiliating experience.

Yeah, I don't acknowledge the validity of any debt, or the whole monetary system when it comes down to it. I'm in debt, mainly from student loans, and honestly, I have no intention of paying them off.
I work for cash money, under the table, I pay rent in cash without a lease contract, etc. Basically everything I do is done in cash and I have no on-the-book assets for these pricks to come after. They can't garnish my wages because my earning are untaxed and not on the books. So fuck them.
These debt collectors want to extort me? Come and get it motherfuckers.
