I'm pretty disappointed. Eisenburg is an okay actor, don't get me wrong. But he's just way too young to pull of a good Lex, I'm used to seeing him play as a Micheal Cera-esque character.

Yeah, I cannot say I have a preference when it comes to actors but I just do not really see how he is going to pull it off. That being said I am very intrigued to see his performance. I think it is going to be one of those events which will either define him as an actor or see his talent drop as a result.

I don't have a lot of faith that the director of these movies will do anything that interesting with what could be very interesting pop-culture mythology (hated 300 and thought that his superman movie was pointless), but other than that I think that Eisenburg could otherwise be an interesting choice - especially if they play-up a "facebook" type entrepreneur angle for Lex. It would be potentially interesting if Lex was presented as a neoliberal "golden boy". I like Gene Hackman's comic performance, but Lex should be a respected capitalist, not basically a flim-flam crook.

The interesting inherent aspect of the Lex-Superman relationship is that it implies that being rich in our society is the nearest thing to the level of being an alien super-being with god-like powers. Superman can destroy cities in fantasy, but in real life the rich actually do have that power militarily and economically.
