I read an artical that india threated pakistan with war, because they support terrorism. they said they will try it on diplomatic way, but if it does not work, they will declare war.
both of them have nuclear power.
is india only talking or it is serious?

They're at war anyway aren't they?
They've been fighting over Kashmir for quite a few years if I remember right.
I think it's an effort to get on side with the US.

I think India wants to see how much it can get away with in this whole "war on terror" deal. It's amazing... if you don't like your coffee, you can call the waitor a terrorist and shoot him and get away with it (well, if you appeal to the US anyways)...

They've fought three wars (including the war of independence) over the issue of Kashmir. Most recently, there was the Kargil incident where Pakistani supported fighters took over several key mountain tops on the Indian side but then withdrew once the former PM Nawaz Sherif made a deal with Clinton. This is usually pointed out as the turning point where the army turned against him and later Musharraf kicked him out of office.

What must be remembered is that Kashmir has never been given the right to vote on its own self-determination. India was supposed to give the part she occupied that right by 1952 (I believe) at the latest, or so Nehru said, but never followed through on it. Pakistan has always said it doesn't care if they want to be part of Pak or be independent, either way she will support them.

As for a war, let's hope it doesn't happen because tactical nukes could be the order of the day. If Bush wasn't already drinking in the White House, you bet he is now :)

What a bloody mess the British Government made when they pulled out of India. They haphazardly divided the states up using out of date maps and not taking in the views of the people. Look at the problems that they managed to create, Kashmir and Bangladesh, formerly West Pakistan.

The only reason that they left was because there was no profit to be made any more so just dropped it. Typical, no thought about the consequences.

80% of pakistan's population suppoted the taliban.
of course pakistan's governement can't support the will of their people since they'll be bombed by the u.s.. pakistan has to worry about making sure a civil war doesn't erupt before they can make efforts to attack india.
by the way what type of governement does pakistan have?

think war , or at least conflict, is inevitable, as the fundamentalsist are bound to take over at some time-
As FOTF said, 80% of pakistanis support the taliban, ans Gen Musharaff promised elections soon- he will be likely to get voted out, especially as he has lost support following letting the US to use Pakistani soil to bomb. some other goverment who are more in support of religion wll take over, and probablt see the fighting as an attack on their religion. thats my opinion, anyway
