Hi all!!! I'm a 23 years old Greek/Czech.I have done many jobs since i was 16 but the last three years i work as a farmer in my fathers property.I'm a member of Syriza,i believe in a society structured around the principals of true democracy and socialism.I believe in unlimited freedom of speech, religion, sexual orientation etc.The only time that i oppose it is in the case of nazis and fascists, because they don't respect it in the first place so in my opinion they don't deserve it!I my self have experienced many forms of racism through the years, because my mother is a Czech, but mostly for my sexual orientation.I'm bisexual, i always was, but i hid it from my friends till i finished the army 3 years ago.My family knew it since i was 15, my father was mad at first but then he got over it, i can't complain both my parents are very supportive. But my (male) friends weren't. They ALL ditched me and after that i felt like hell for about a year, till i met my first boyfriend. The worst thing in the whole story is how both my older brothers treat me like i'm a freak or something. They are both fucking nazis and a year ago they both joined Golden Dawn!!!Imagine how it feels searing your home with 2 fascists!!!My mother divorced with my father a year ago and now its just dad,me and the two nazis!Hope that you wont get tired by riding all this...

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

Sounds you had a tough ride. Hope you'll get in easier waters now.

Are you politically active in Greece? Do you think SYRIZA is radical?

welcome,
and wow what a fucked up situation to be in..
any possibility to move the fuck out of your home situation (hard i understand in the crisis), your brothers might be only hostile but their friends could be downright dangerous to you, your own personal safety should always trump family loyalty.
any chance in studying abroad or at worst living with your mom?

anyways, solidarity, syriza isnt so popular here, even more so under some of the people who can be the most brazenly hostile so i'm afraid you have to prepare yourself for some antagonism, i can only hope that that wont deter you from posting here. if you experience any abuse please notify any of the mods or admins.

Well, i take part on the parties events and marches but my occupation as a farmer takes most of my time so i don't participate as much as i would like to.I think that Syriza is as radical as a socialist democratic party should be.We are probable the first party right now, our opposition is for laughs the pseudosocialist pasok is below 10% and New Democracy is following its example. So till this point we only had to use democratic means to spread our ideas and gain peoples support. But i think that when the time comes for us to rule the country, in order to combat the rise of Golden Dawn and the neonazis we may have to take more radical solutions ;)

Hello.Yes, my situation has been pretty bad but i think that many people have far worse things to deal with.At least i have my father which is really supportive and also my boyfriend. My mom lives in Czech now, i never learned the language my self so i wouldn't be able to communicate with anyone. But i don't want to leave Greece anyway. My job is here,my boyfriend is here, what little friends i have left are here and so i don't see my self immigrate any time soon.I will just have to find a small apartment somewhere near my village.I'm in no way in danger by any of this nazis, if my brothers friends find out that i'm bisexual (they already now i'm socialist and antifasicst) they are going to stigmatize them too and they will stop associating with them, that's how their little racist brains work.So they won't tell anyone. Also my brothers may not like me but i don't think that they would put me in danger. As far as Syriza, maybe people here think that it's not radical enough, but i'ts the only left wing party really close to power. And with Golden Dawn following behind, i think that we must all unite at least for now so that the nazis don't have their chance to rule the country,if they do then we are screwed.Syriza has a strong antifascist stance, i think that once it rules it will take them down.I'm open debating about Syriza and i'm also open at any criticism ( i criticize some of the parties choices my self) as long as it is civil.
P.S: Sorry for any misspellings my first language is Greek
