Hello to all comrades,

I've been looking for a communist/anarchist forum to join and found this one, so here I am. I'm here mainly to listen, think and learn and sometimes share the joy of my political and grammatical ignorance.

I have previously been interested in communism and anarchism but over the last few years have been feeling disillusioned and wallowing in apathy and cynicism. However I recently listened to Billy Bragg saying something along the lines of Cynicism being the enemy more so than capitalism. I don't believe this to be strictly true but I do agree with the sentiment he was trying to get across. The enemy wants us to be cynical and apathetic and out of the game so they can keep on doing what they want. So this year for me is about taking my own little stand, reaffirming my principles and attempting to live accordingly.

As far as my particular tendency or political/ ideological allegiance I'm not really sure what to call myself. My knee jerk reaction to all this pigeonholing of people into separate ideological/theoretical camps is one of distaste but that may just be the naïve idealist who dreams of human unity coming out. At present I'm just doing a lot of reading of both Anarchist and Communist authors and agree with a lot of what I'm reading.

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

I think the best way to overcome cynicism is to talk to workers and student about why capitalism is messing up their lives and how a communist revolution can begin to solve these problems. Having talked to people you can find out what they are doing to change things. You can join with them and try to move them in an anti-capitalist, pro-communist direction. Eventually you will need to join an organization to be more effective, but talking and struggling is a good way to begin.

Welcome to the forum! As a cynic myself, noticing such awful trends in society constantly reminds me of my aspiration for a communistic future. Hope to see you around.

Welcome! Defining one's distinct tendency is pretty hard. As long as you're up for equality and a fair society, you're considered good people ;)
