I am HorrifyingAbomination, a name I chose in reference to an author local to my area, and one of my favorites HP Lovecraft. I am a Leftist and anti-capitalist, but not the standard issue communist, my ideology is essentially a hybrid of Marxist and Nationalist ideas. As my Lovecraft statement implies, I am from the US state of Rhode Island. I hope I can have some enjoyable discussions/interactions on here and contribute meaningfully to your community here. Although, I will give a fair warning many of my ideas may be somewhat iconoclastic on a site dedicated to leftists. Thanks.

Welcome :)
If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!
If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.
How do you reconcile Marxism with nationalist ideas precisely?

You should have just said that you support socialism in one country and anti-imperialism.

Hi there! Nice to meet you. I'm also a newbie here. I believe, it's democracy is a good one. We can freely say what we want and chose our leader.

You can't be a nationalist and a marxist.

What? No seriously what? I mean, this flabbergasts me so bad (and i assume you're talking about communism, so how about no leaders?) but it seems like you were the first to mention democracy... so relevance?

Om my...this will raise some serious questions.
A National-socialist and a person i think might be a Stalinist or even worse.
my ideology is essentially a hybrid of Marxist and Nationalist ideas.
You might be restricted to the Opposing Ideologies subforum for your Nationalism, but i'll leave that to the admin's/mod's.

When you say "choose our leader", do you mean socialist-vanguardism as in the USSR or like "hey, i'm pretty okay with the electory system we have right now"?

Problem with that statement is that elections are fundamentally an olichargic mechanism. It is anti-democratic.
But welcome to you too, of course :)
What other political ideas do you have, if anything in particular?

Please tell me that when you mean nationalist, you mean 3rd world nationalism? Not white nationalism? If you are a white nationalist, please, please do yourself a favor and read the sticky thread in Anti-Fascism that deals specifically with refuting white supremacy. You'll discover that blacks can in fact have equal IQs with whites provided they are given the same environment to live in. Also, as it turns out, many rich black families, despite their wealth, still choose to live in poor neighborhoods. But yeah.

I think you fail to understand iconoclasticism, as you can't be an iconoclast and a Marxist.
Also please explain the nationalism thing.
Welcome to the boards.

Civic Nationalism
Nationhood is defined by common citizenship
A civic nation consists of all those who subscribe to its political creed.
Regardless of ethnicity, race, color, religion, gender, language
Ethnic Nationalism
Nationhood is defined by language, religion, customs & traditions
It is not the state that creates the nation but the nation that creates the state
The glue that holds people together is not shared political rights but pre-existing ethnic characteristics
Civic Nationalism may be more friendly, but is nonetheless still divisive. Anything involving borders, divisions, and flag-waving is still nationalistic. Communism is an internationalist ideology, but it has to start somewhere. So in the event that a Marxist state was set up somewhere I would presume it would hold to Civic nationalist values but to Internationalist rhetoric.

Why would you need any form of nationalism in a socialist state it just creates a bunch of brain dead idiots

His user name is SovietCommie. Civic nationalism is just as reactionary and bourgeois as any other kind of nationalism.

When I said nationalism in the would-be Marxist state, I didn't mean it would promote patriotism. It would hold internationalist values with but in one nation (that abides to civic nationalist laws).

Better yet... Smash the state and it's borders.

What even is the difference between socialism in one country and nationalism? Assuming OP doesn't mean ethnic nationalism. I'm pretty sure OP does not mean nationalism in a malicious way and is just misunderstanding the term. They're probably just a Stalinist or something and consider nationalism to be simply wanting a government and borders.
