SOCIALIST REPUBLICAN FRANK KEANE
This is the story of Socialist Revolutionary Frank Keane, who joined Sinn Fein in the 1950s. Within a few years he enlisted in the British Parachute Regiment to get basic military training and in 1963 Keane was appointed OC for the Dublin brigade of the IRA. He emigrated to London in 1965 and associated with the Irish Workers Group, a Marxist political party established by Gerry Lawless.
Keane became an integral part of the Irish revolution when he became a member of the organisation of Saor Eire. In 1970 he was acquitted for his alleged involvement in the Arran Quay bank raid in Dublin, when a garda was shot dead.
