Why did Prachanda and Maoist Nepal opt for a multi-party democracy? Is Nepal even Maoist?

Prachanda is an ultimate opportunist, that's one of the main reasons it went to bourgeois-democracy (other than running out of rebels and weapons). Nepal is not Maoist sadly. It's still the most successful leftist revolution of the 21st century so far. At least the people's war is rekindling.

Defeatist social democracy at its finest, yet again. Luckily, the tinderboxes for a new people's rebellion are lighting up.

I wonder how North Korea, Cuba, and the usual "communist" club view the 1996-2006 Nepali Maoist struggle?
