I thought this was pretty funny.

Pope Francis Hurts The Tender Feelings Of A Billionaire Republican

http://www.addictinginfo.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/pope-lungone-threats.png

If Pope Francis ever finds himself in need of a hammer and some nails, he may want to consider avoiding Home Depot. Ken Langone, founder of the company, has been whining kvetching pissing and moaning grumpy about Pope Francis having the gall to promote the message of Jesus. In recent months, the Pope has been on a verbal rampage against the horrors that the unrestrained greed of savage capitalism has wrought across the globe. Hes been preaching that the message of Jesus was not to get rich by screwing the poor but to serve them. This has deeply offended poor Langones tender sensibilities.

Well, hes right about that. The United States has some of the greediest rich people on the planet. And Pope Francis knows it. Not only did Wall Street executives destroy the economy and throw millions out of work, they gave themselves HUGE bonuses using tax payer dollars. And then spent the next several years screwing those very same tax payers in every conceivable way.

Why doesnt Pope Francis support the GOP?
Thats a tricky question. Maybe its because in the richest country in the world the rich have invested enormous amounts of money in order to bribe pay off buy persuade politicians. Their goal? To cut food stamps to hungry children, deny healthcare to the sick and otherwise slash the social safety net all while giving more tax breaks to the already mega-wealthy. Whatever could Pope Francis find objectionable about that?

But poor Ken isnt buying it (an unusual experience for him, no doubt):

Langone, who describes himself as a devout Catholic who prays every morning, said he has told the cardinal that you get more with honey than with vinegar. He said he also wants to make clear that wealthy Americans are some of the biggest donors in the world.

There is no nation on earth that is so forthcoming, so giving, he said, adding that he hopes the pope can celebrate a positive point of view rather than focusing on the negative.

Keep in mind, poor billionaire Ken Langone is heavy duty fundraiser for the GOP. When he brags about his philanthropy, thats like a serial killer bragging that hes good with kids while he kills their parents and wears their faces like a mask.

By the way, that charity the rich like to tout as proof theyre not self-centered sociopaths? Turns out it goes to benefit the rich more than it does the poor. A fact that Pope Francis is probably aware of.

So there you have it: an elite 1%er that spends his free time making sure Republicans have the resources to demonize and crush the poor and sick. And this guy has the cojones to be upset at Pope Francis for preaching the actual, literal words of Jesus. You know, help the poor and sick without reservation? Dont worship money? Dont be a dick? In other words, the exact opposite of what Republicans do. The arrogance is breathtaking.

yeah, liked this one too:

Why is that bully Francis picking on rich people (http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/12/30/home-depot-founder-worries-pope-francis-neither-loves-or-understands-rich-americans/)?

In an interview on CNBC on Monday, Home Depot founder and devout Catholic Ken Langone said that the Pope’s statements about capitalism have left many potential “capitalist benefactors” wary of donating to the Church or its fundraising projects.
According to Langone, an anonymous, “potential seven-figure donor” for the Church’s restoration of St. Patrick’s Cathedral is concerned that the Pope’s criticism of capitalism are “exclusionary," especially his statements about the “culture of prosperity” leading to the wealthy being “incapable of feeling compassion for the poor.”
Langone advised Cardinal Timothy Dolan that Francis should "be careful about generalities" because "Rich people in one country don’t act the same as rich people in another country." Presumably, Langone is suggesting that American rich people are different than rich people in the rest of the world. Given that Langone himself supplied one example of a wealthy [presumably] American who was considering withholding funds from the church because of something the Pope said, his theory that wealthy Americans are selfless do-gooders seems to be based on shaky ground.

Yes, attack them right in the feels.

I still oppose the church and the pope like any egalitarian ought to, but this is funny,

Ken thinks Francis is alienating the rich. But the rich have literally no place in Christianity. I don't get why these ultrarich conservatives try to preach the bible and think the world of Christianity when they clearly haven't read their bible:
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money." Matthew 6:24
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money." Luke 18:25

The pope isn't alienating the rich, Jesus alienated the rich.

it is great to see a pope who seems to be inspired by liberation theology. i often find it hard to accept the extreme anti religious position of some of the left. thankfully it doesn't seem overly common among my circle of comrades. Conclusion go pope, church; still not that great, me; still a catholic

My supervisor is a liberal Catholic and she has a torn-out magazine page with this dude's picture tacked up on the wall in her office and constantly goes on about how "progressive" he is. Personally pretty tired of hearing about it. It's honestly shocking to me that even people on here seem to be enamored with him.

But the rich have literally no place in Christianity.
Haha yeah. Sure.

I disagree wholeheartedly. The Christian Church is precisely where the rich belong. Anything that touts the idea of getting ones just life in heaven after you've passed from this one, while those who create your current hell enjoy their heaven now are right at home.
